Der Titel bezieht sich auf Glen selbst, ein schillernder Typ, ein seltener Vogel wie der schwarze Kakadu. Ein wertvoller Mensch (auch der schwarze Kakadu ist auf dem Schwarzmarkt \u201ehoch dotiert\u201c).
\nAls Glen acht Jahre alt war \u2013 im Jahre 1967 \u2013 wurden die Aborigines als B\u00fcrger Australiens anerkannt. Jetzt erst konnten Landrechte (die wichtigste Frage im Verh\u00e4ltnis von indigenen Australiern und christlichen Einwanderern) juristisch geltend gemacht werden.
\nDas Buch \u2013 kein politisches Pamphlet \u2013 behandelt nicht
\ndie K\u00e4mpfe, sondern allt\u00e4gliche Gedanken, Beobachtungen und Begebenheiten.<\/p>\n

\"Kirra\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Glen lebte als B\u00fcrger Australiens in einer Zeit, in der er M\u00f6glichkeiten hatte, die der \u00e4lteren Generation von Aborigines verschlos\u00adsen waren. Glen war ein moderner Aborigine, einer, der aktiv in den Bewegungen f\u00fcr Landrechte und kultureller Identit\u00e4t teilnahm.
\nEr lie\u00df sich nicht von Bildung ausschlie\u00dfen, erreichte den Bachelor of Social Science an der New South Wales University und arbeitete bei verschiedenen Aboriginal-Initiativen in Sydney und der Central Coast.
\nEr erlitt aber dennoch ein Aboriginal-Schicksal. Drogen, Alkohol, Meninghitis. Gestorben ist er
\nmit 35 Jahren.<\/p>\n

Die Gedichte erscheinen im Original und der deutschen \u00dcbersetzung.

The Black Cockatoo \u2013 poems by Glen Hennessy<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The seven poems were written in the nineties of the last century.
\n<\/span>As an example the poem Banggarri Ngura. The text begins with a description of every day life, as the tourist witnesses it on australian beaches:
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00bbThere on the beach lie the riders
\n<\/span><\/em>\"RipRip\"<\/a><\/span><\/strong>there in the sky rides the bird
\nsoftly turning, turning into the light\u00ab<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0Followed by some lines sounding a bit cryptic:
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00bbHere between the lake and the ocean
\nare the dancers circles, paths
\ntheir mounds and stones
\nDharrkinyang bones endure
\nsince the sea rose
\nand pattern this forest, Banggarris home\u00ab<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0Finally secluding with observations which are once more familiar to uns:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00bbCars roar along the highway here.
\nThere the power stations burn coal.\u00ab<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

But what is this cryptical?
\nIt is the history of the original inhabitants of Australia. Glen Hennessy let it shimmer through the banal descriptions of the ordinariness. Glen was a modern, an urban Aborigine. Not one who suffers on drachoma, an eye desease mostly known in Third World countries. He was not excluded from education but suffered from a typical Aboriginal fate. He died at the age of 35 \u2013 virtually without possessions.<\/span><\/p>\n
